ECO-TECH CLIMATE INNOVATORS PROJECT PARTICIPANTS PRESENT FINDINGS TO MUNICIPAL OFFICIALS

  • by

Meg Wah (My Earth) held an exclusive presentation of the findings and recommendations from the Eco-Tech Climate Innovators Project to representatives of the Buea Council. The Eco-Tech Climate Innovators project, which spanned four months, trained 60 young environmental ambassadors in ArcGIS software to identify flood-prone areas within the Buea Municipality. Beyond technical training, participants engaged in practical field activities, such as planting flood-resistant trees in vulnerable zones and conducting public sensitization through a local TV station. These efforts not only showcased their newly acquired skills but also helped educate the wider community on climate resilience.

The Eco-Tech Climate Innovators Project adopted a holistic approach that empowered youth while addressing real environmental challenges. By involving the younger generation in mapping and mitigation strategies, the initiative promoted a spirit of responsibility and leadership among participants. The project also strengthened local climate resilience by creating a network of informed and motivated young leaders ready to advocate for sustainable environmental practices in their communities.

During the closing session, Mr. Ako Peter, Founder and Executive Director of Meg Wah (My Earth), commended the youth ambassadors for their dedication and urged them to continue their advocacy beyond the project’s conclusion. Participants expressed heartfelt appreciation for the opportunity to gain life-changing skills and contribute meaningfully to their community. The Meg Wah (My Earth) team appreciates the New England Biolabs Foundation and Atlas Corps for their support in making this impactful project a reality.
