MEG WAH (MY EARTH) COMMEMORATES WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2025

  • by

Today marks World Environment Day 2025. In the lead-up to this commemoration, Meg Wah (My Earth) visited Faith Bilingual Academy Nursery and Primary School in Bomaka, Buea, South West Region of Cameroon to engage young learners on the urgent issue of plastic pollution. In line with this year’s global theme, “Ending Plastic Pollution,” we donated trash cans to promote proper waste disposal. We spoke with pupils and staff about the environmental threats posed by plastic waste. The school administration warmly received the gesture and expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting its importance in promoting a cleaner and more conscious school environment.

Plastic pollution remains one of the gravest environmental challenges of our time from its production to its disposal, it fuels the climate crisis and damages ecosystems. Improperly discarded plastic contaminates soil, blocks drainage systems, and harms wildlife, often displacing communities in search of safer, healthier living conditions.

At Meg Wah (My Earth), we believe environmental education must start early. Teaching children about the dangers of plastic and the value of sustainable habits nurtures a generation of eco-conscious citizens. As Meg Wah (My Earth) marks this important day, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing practical, community-driven solutions to reduce environmental impact and build climate-resilient communities.
